Bartuf Flying High with BMI Contract

Bartuf Newpaper Display System for BMI Leeds-based retail display manufacturer, Bartuf Systems, is bringing the latest news to air travellers across the UK after a winning a contract to design a newspaper display system for passengers of British Midland International (BMI)

Bartuf was awarded the contract through Dawson Media Direct (DMD), the world's leading supplier of newspapers and magazines to airlines, and a partner of BMI.

As part of the brief Bartuf has designed, built and delivered a four-bin, spring loaded newspaper display unit on castors to be positioned at departure gates and as passengers are entering the aircraft.

The metal and plastic units have been created in the BMI corporate colours and include graphics depicting the company’s new logo. They are capable of holding a total volume of 300 newspapers.

The project is part of BMI’s plans to make selected national newspapers available free of charge to its passengers.

Steve Davenport, Managing Director of Bartuf Systems, said: “BMI is one of the UK’s largest airlines, so we were very excited Dawson Media Direct gave us the opportunity to work with the brand. Our units are now in Heathrow and Manchester airports, with further roll outs scheduled to take place over the coming months.”
